Thats used for an aftermarket radio. The little slot is usually used for an equalizer or some kinda switch panel.

you should join us in the audio forum.

What year is your car?

That piece if for when the stock radio is removed, it screws in right where the stock deck was.

That peice on top is just a hole. The little plate laying in front of it covers the hole when nothing is used.

Looks like the panel is upside down in the pic, my stereo is on top, and the new plate came with a cup that goes in place in the bottom for storage, but you cant put anything in there on a mustang, it will usually end up in the floor board or on the shift boot.

Yeah, you usually put an EQ there, back when external EQ's were the thing (like when they were still making our cars new)... But when I had my 97 Explorer I found a 7" LCD monitor to fit there... i still have it for sale if anybodys interested, its made by Accele

Yeah, i had a PS2 hooked up to it, but now Alpine & JVC are making seperate in-dash DVD/CD players that will hook right up to it... Under 500 for the Alpine and under 300 for the JVC... just a thought.
