Sanding quarter window molding?

Sanding quarter window molding?
The molding around my side quarter windows is kind of weathered and uneven looking. Some parts of it almost look like they've been sanded. I was wondering if anyone has ever sanded the rubber molding in order to make it all look even. Will this work?
Also, any ideas on how to make my sunroof trim (framing) look better? The paint is kind of worn off in some areas.

They actually make a molding that overlaps the original. It supposedly looks really good once its on and they aren't expensive at all. I seen this on either ebay or 50resto, not sure which one.

Yes you can sand them and repaint them. Just lightly sand then with some 150-320 grit (your choice depending on how rough they are). ONe you have them scuffed upa little bit spray them with some filler primer and just keep sanding and priming until they get smooth. I went through a whole can one the two on our 93. Once you have them nice and smooth spray them with some flat or semi gloss black. You can do the same thing for the door frame. Ive painted all the tri on our car and it looks really dang good.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I was actually thinking of just sanding them, and not painting them. I don't mind that they have the rough texture--I just want them to all look even. What do they look like after just sanding them (just the rubber parts on the quarters, not the painted door framing)? Thanks again.

You can get a set of reconditioned quarters from www.dugan-racing.com or get a set of new aftermarket quarters which I've heard fit well however, they don't have the Mustang text. You can get molding covers, but they look like ****. Remember, the moldings are molded black, they were not painted from the factory, so if you paint them, expect them to peel. Obvoiusly, the better job you do the longer it'll last.
