fuel pump lockring

on a 94 mustang gt, do i turn the lock ring clockwise or counter clockwise to release the pump assembly?

Usually there is only one right way, i just used a flat head screw driver and a small hammer to tap it out.

counterclockwise and spend the money and get a new lock ring
