Default 94-95 GT

Between overwhelming pressure from my friend, and my brother, to buy a newer mustang, I find myself looking at the 94-95 even though I would prefer a 86-93. My friend has a 90 GT and loves it, my brother just bought a 04 Cobra. They are wanting me to bridge the generation gap, but I don't want to spend a lot, I have other things on my list, but I would really like to play around with one of these 5.0 engines a little. What can you tell me the pros are and the cons. Problems I should look for, and what would be a good price to pay for one. I have also heard the computers are a little different compared to the earlier years, is this a major concern? Any advice or comments would be greatly appericated, thanks in advance.

I have a 94, I had to have a Chip burned for me when i had it dyno tuned. If you have an older or much newer then you can have the computer flashed. But i have no problems with my 94

Thanks Chris

But I have another question, what about the Cobras. I don't know anything about the 94-95 Cobras. What type of engine was in there? Was it a modified 5.0, or was it the 4.6? Sorry I am so out-of-date on this body style, but these are must knows before I make a stupid purchase. Thanks again.

the 94-95 body style weighs more than a fox body, and has less hp. the cobras in 94-95 had slightly modified 5.0s, among other upgraded parts

the main difference between any cobra and a GT is that cobra's have 4 valves per cylinder as opposed to 2 with the GTs. i suggest if you do get a 94-95 not to get a convertible though because the car is heavy enough(i have a conv. but i care more about that than loosing a couple tenths in my 0-60 time..it's just too sexy). as far as price goes, i have a 95 with all options and in good condition(or it was when i bought it, i've since been hit twice) anyway...i've been offered as much as 9500 but i'd say anywhere from 6-10 depending on the condition you want to pay for. obviously add some money for a cobra...good luck man

That's the 96+ that have the difference being 2V or 4V.

The 5.0s that came in the 94-95 had different heads, upper and lower intake and so on. The 94-95 Computers were HORRIBLE. Cut fuel at 93mph and so on and so forth. Most people did the swap of a Fox Body computer into them as there were no chips around at the time. Now there are so go that route if you do get a Cobra in the 94-95 range.

The 94-95 Cobra's aren't that special, get a GT with the money u'd save with the GT you'd have a Cobra killer.

Thanks for all the input everybody, I don't want to spend more then 7,000 right now. Any other flaws I need to know about before I really begin searching? I found a 94 Cobra for 7,000 but it had 149k miles on it. Is this a good deal, or should I look for a cheaper GT? Thanks again for everything.

I have a 95 gt bought it for 5500 dollars i have had no problems but the car only had 36k when i bought it now it has 42k The whole thing about weight and power is up for grabs because ive raced a friends gt 5spd (93) and beat it but on the other hand the lx 5.0 stock will just barley beat my car. for the price diffrence the cobra stock has 250hp compared to 215hp (gt) and youll pay ALOT more. i looked at a 95 cobra and they where asking 12K and it had alot more miles it did handle a little better but for that kind of price difference you could get a blower and coilovers.. For the people that had a chip burned whats the cost!! and did it really make a diffrence!! ohh yah the fuel dosent cut off at 90 mph because iv had my car over 120mph before the only feature mine has is a rev limiter that what the ford mechanic told me but maybe 94 was diffrent?
