Default Muscle car safety

All I wanted to know was, what makes a muscle car so un-safe? Or what make them safe? Pretty much what is the safty like for muscle cars? You know years from 1964 to like 1974. Thanks

You can blame it all on the big nut behind the wheel.

Why do I say that? Take a look at just about any accident out there. If just one of the drivers had been paying a bit more attention it probably could have been avoided. You don't want to end up flying off the road? Slow down a smidge.

Aside from that, typically the cars you're talking about were designed with ancient technology (current for the day). Compared to other cars of the period they're on par, but compared to cars today and they're pathetic. ABS, Air bags, crumple zones, 4-wheel disc brakes, traction control, pitch control, etc... You can't compare them. You want a safe car, pick up a Volvo or a Camry or something. I don't think a 65 mustang is any less safe than a Ford Fiesta, it'll just get you into trouble a lot faster.
Seriously though, look at all of the technological advances made in the past ten, twenty years. You just can't beat it.
