Default idle bypass something or other

my idle is kind of retarded. it will either stay up at 1000-1100 rpm when i slow down and stop or it will dip down to 800rpm then just before i stop it revs back up to 1000 on its own. is it possible that the idle bypass sensor is bad (that thing at a 45* angle on the front with wires comming out)? is it possible to test it with my volt meter? if so, what reading should i get?

It might be but welcome to the annoying idle of a bigger MAF. The only way to fix is a custom chip then it still does it some.

That too. Computer can no longer judge the air coming into the engine. Therefore, it kinda guesses. Surging idle, the puter trying to figure it out. Get a custom burnt chip. Their cheap and you can have them re-burnt when u add new parts. The surging idle is a big pain in the ***.

Sorry, for the nOOb questions, but when a guy gets a "chip" burnt, is this a whole new computer?

Naa, you get a custom burnt chip that goes into the computer and plugs into a port and overrides the stock settings. Check this site out, they treated me right www.pcmforless.com
