SO. I'm selling my motor and trans to my boss, thats besides the point. I am going to build an engine for it. I have $2,000 to start with, and i am on a budget, so nothing too crazy. What would be the best setup for a weekend driver. I know i want to carb it. I was thinking a 351W stroked to a 393, just by changing the crank and pistons. I was just going to pick up a block at a junkyard. What do ya'll think???

thats exactly what i was going to do only a 408 stroker and i was gunna get if from the junk yard but now that im coming into about 8k im going to buy a brand new block. i would go with what you are thinking sounds great to me. i think its gunna cost a little more than 2k

No matter what, I'd spend the money, and get some gapless rings. More power, and your motor always holds compression. Total Seal has them in the $150 range I think.

2k is gonna be a bit too small of a budget. your new transmission ALONE will soak up most of that. I am doing a 351w swap into my Cobra and its going to run me somewhere along the $5,000 range. 351w shortblack from ebay, AFR185cc heads, GT40 tubular intake manifold, and either a tremec tko600 trans... or a t-56

What are drp aluminum heads? I'm not sure I'd trust them.
