Default S/c 95 gt

OK well i thing i have found my car. Its a black 95 gt5.0, completly stock. IM getting long tubw headers, x-pipe, and side exhaust. The next thing i want to go with is a paxton s/c. I have a s/c grand prix and know all about pre-det (knock). But i dont know much about s/c'in a 5.0. Could anyone help. I dont know the compression or what else i should do to the engine performance wise before this, what to do to the tranny, suspension, brakes. If anyone could help me with this ide be very grateful.

THanks.
Dave

the sc kit should come with everything you need to make it run. usually they come with an fmu to bandage the fuel problem. its best to buy larger injectors and maf, and not use the maf they give you. you dont have to do anything to the tranny. you can upgrade suspension but its not required. stock compression is 9:1 and youd be best off to have the car dyno tuned when the sc is installed. that will be in the neighborhood of $600

its easy. it seems complicated but its really just a bolt on part. for vortech you just unbold your passenger side accesories, and bolt them back on using the sc bracket. then stick the sc on top. you will have to punch a hole in the oil pan though, thats the hardest part. procharger has a head unit that has its own oil system so you wouldnt even have to punch any holes if you go with them

Two things to remember with the Paxton S/C. Since you have a 95 GT, you won't be able to fo with the Novi 1000 so you will have to pay a bit more and go with the Novi 2000. Also, it's not self contained so you'll have to tap the oil pan (or some other alternative.) Nothing major...just two things to think about.

Whats wrong with the powerdyne kits
I was originally going to get a powerdyne but did some research and got scared away. A large percentage of the reviews I read were all complaints. Many were saying that the belt would break repeatedly. Then you could not service it yourself and would have to send the entire unit back to the company to get repaired. That process would take it out of commission for 2 - 3 monts. I also heard many MANY reports of crappy customer service and things along those lines.

Some reviews did say that they ran great and people had no problems with them. But i figured I would just lay down the extra $700 - $1,000 and get a procharger that had nearly perfect reviews. I'm not saying powerdynes are bad... Just saying that it is definately a gamble and I didn't want to take that much of a chance.

I installed a Powerdyne yesterday and not one peice fit, we had to retap like 3-4 holes, the pipe that runs from the s/c to the TB had to be cut to fit (was a bout an inch too long). But after it was all finished it was pretty nice, very quite, but it had a sweet sweet sound.
