I don't think NHRA has "older" and "newer" car differences. The rule was lowered from 11.99 to 11.49 a few years back. Are you sure about the dual time rules, JD?

And they only technically require a 5 point because they don't require the passenger side door bar. But I've never seen a 5 point bar and I think it's be gay if I did see one.

I asked a tech about this and he told me that because there are som many new cars that are capible of going 11.99 so easlily that they have a relaxed rule for them. NHRA feels that newer cars are safer because they have better brakes, ABS, air bags etc. Older cars could still have 4 wheel drums and run 11's. This is mearly what I was told by the NHRA tech guy at RT 66 in Joliet IL where I race from time to time.

My car is nothing special really, just a cam/full bolt on car. It's run a best of 11.80 @ 114, which is pretty good for a car that really does not have all that much done, but really around here cars like mine are a dime a dozen.
