Default NEW here.

hey guys, i've always admired mustang owners since i was about 5. i'm now 17, just bought my second car, and i'm proud to be the owner of a '92 navy blue 5.0 LX convertible with 78k on it. brand new paint job/top and i'm loving it. the car is straight stock and i don't plan on seriously racing it, but i would like some advice to make it a little quicker (for those rice burners out there wanting to run) without hitting the wallet too hard. any suggestions?

Hey there, i figure ill help u out a little. The first thing you should do is buy gears. If it is an Automatic, then get 4.10 gears, if its a 5 speed, get 3.73 gears. They will run you about 500-600$ installed. They give you the best bang for the buck. Doesnt increase actual HP, but acceleration quikens a lot. Next, i would go with exhaust. New headers, mid pipe, and catback. Now the midpipe can ether be X or H depending on what you like. Personaly i think H pipes sound better on the 5.0's. Depending on your emissions teesting rules, you may have to get one with cats. The full exhaust will run you anywhere from 600$- 1200 depending on the brands yhou buy. Just go with decent brands and itll sound good. After thatg go CAI for 120 or so. Well, if ur like me, and a broke teen, that should take a lil while. Enjoy the stang!

Sup hunt, for free modifications I would do what was already mentioned. Bump your timing up to 14 degrees (or until it starts pinging) and remove the air silencer. That's worth quite a bit of power right there. Remember, when you set your timing, remove the spout connector.
