Default Tire guys answer me a question.

Whats the widest tire i can get to seal on an 8" wide rim. Im wanting something like a 265-275 tire on my rear draglites. But im wondering if that'll seal on my rim.

what size rim do you have. I've got cobra 16x8" and the widest tire that will work, so I've been told is 255. I really wanted a 275 tire but the shop tells me that can't happen with a 16" rim.[:@]

You can get a 275 on a 8" rim. Seen it many times!!!

Here's a 275 on a 8.5" wheel.

That's exactly what I thought, but I've been to 3 tire shops now and they all tell me there is not a 275 tire for an 8" wide rim. And actually I can't find any on the net either. If you or anybody knows of a brand of tire that will work please post.[&:] I had posted eariler that I was looking in to the BF Goodrich G-Force tires, but the widest for an 8" rim is 255.

I had 275/40/17s on my stock 17x8" cobra wheels....

anyone who tells you that you cant fit a 275 on a 16x8 is on crack

It would amaze me that 275's fit on 17x8 and on 15x8 but not 16x8..... looks like your talking to the wrong tire guys

dont tell them what size rim youre putting it on, some tire shops wont sell you it because it exceeds the recommended size.

myself I have 275-60-15 mickey thompson drag radials on a 15x8 draglite.
but if your going to run this big of tire you will need to roll in the fender lip so it doesnt cut the side of the tire.

I'm runnin 275/40-17 555Rs on stock Cobra wheels no problem, they look identical to the 255s i have up front. I've heard you can squeeze extra width from a nitto tire b/c they run narrow, but thats just what i heard.
