New clutch engagement point.

New clutch engagement point.
Is it true that a new clutch should engage with the pedal closer to the floor than a worn out clutch would? If so, could someone explain why. I just had my clutch replaced, and I notice that I have to bury the pedal further into the carpet to disengage the clutch. Is this normal?

I know when they start going the dissengage more at the top...I wouldn't think you would be all the way down before it dissengages, more in the last 3rd or 1/2 of the stroke. Stock cable and quadrant? Sounds like a streached cable

Thanks for the replies fellas. Yeah, the cable and quadrant are stock, and the quadrant still has all its teeth. So you say when clutches are wearing out, they engage/disengage more toward the top of the pedal travel? Basically what I am noticing is that when I put it into first, as soon as I start letting the pedal up, the clutch engages. With my old clutch, it didn't engage until the pedal was further up in its travel.
