Which Spark plugs???
I have always used Autolite's but the car I have had NGK V-Power's in it. I believe the motor is an 86, but the threads on the NGK's I took out were extra long. The Autolite's I got were the same diameter, but a lot shorter. Is this the right plug for this motor? These are 2545's that I bought. The book shows just using 25's in the 87 motor. I know they changed heads in 87, but would either plug work? How can I tell for sure if this is an 86 motor without stripping a valve cover off?

RE: Which Spark plugs???
and no, not all spark plugs are equal.
Champion plugs are junk for example, barely good enough for a briggs engine.
Copper plugs will go about 20-30k miles, platinum will go about 50-60k and double platinums should be good for about 80k. All extra electrodes do is allow the plug to last longer. Bosch +4 are worthless as they cannot be gapped. Get a set of autolite platinums and life is great. Autolite makes a good plug for american cars. NGK.Denso are excellent for jap cars.

RE: Which Spark plugs???
Thanks guys for those of you with input to my question (which is what I thought this forum was for)... My question was never really about what brand of plug, but what type of plug, and what I really need to know though, is if there is a difference in the heads from 86 to 87 that would make a difference in the plug. Like I said, the NGK's have a lot more threads (probably 3/4 inch) that I took out of the car, and the 2545's have about half the amount of thread (1/2 inch maybe), so of course they wont go in as far. These are what are called for in the 86 5.0 setup...
