Default h/c/i Tuneing

I recently installed the trick flow track heat kit on my 89'. My question is should i get a mail order custom chip or dyno tune. My car doesnt run well at all backfires sometimes and doesnt seem to have much power. I would like a dyno tune but dont trust any of the shops close and dont have that kind of money. I also have a trouble code: 13 : idle speed control out of specific range. I have checked tps and cant figure it out. Could this code be making the car run so bad. Very lost and frustrated at the whole thing i have tryd everything to get it to run good. Please Help! [sm=dontgetit.gif]

You dont think a mail order custom chip would work? Does anyone know how to fix the problem the code is throwing?

If you have a mass air meter did calibrate them for your injectors? Do you have a fuel regulator? when my freind did his h/c/i swap all he did was calibrate the mass air meter for his 24lb injectors and he adjusted his fuel regulator.

yeah you need a dyno tune and make sure the TPS is correct.

there are stickys on how to do it., not hard.

with dyno tune you read and re-calibrate you entire a/f ratio table
I was able to use my 19lbs MAF w/ 24lbs injectors cause the dyno
tune went in and set everything in the EEC like its supposed to be.

also, check and make sure you arent getting a lot of oil
up thru the PCV system. after market intakes are know for this
and it will cause your engine to run like shyt.

Ya mass air is calibrated for 30lbs and tps is set at .99 . Pcv system looks like its getting no oil through. Fuel pressure is set at 40 with vacuum off. I just cant get it running good enough to even take it down the road. It backfires and everything. Sometimes it idles fine other times it hunts. Ive cleaned iac and even have the adjustment plate. Ive just had about all i can take out of it.

replace the IAC, they're only $30, but that will only mess with the idle.

triple check all you vac lines, do a vac test with gauge

mine did same shyt, just had to mess with it here and there and finally get a dyno tune
had it running half way decent on my own with little help.
we found a vac leak i had missed.

did you replace the lifters? hear any clacking/clicking noise from bad lifters?
