I have 3.73's and my engine rpms are pretty high (auto). 4.10's will only put them higher. To some of you, higher rpms are not a big deal, but for me, its a lot higher than stock, and i liked my stock cruising speed. My opinion only....

i should have refrased that. in the 8.8 rear ends only 2.73's and 3.08's were available in lx, and gt models. your 83 has a 7.5. 7.5s had all kinds of gears, most 86+ 4 cyl cars had 3.73 factory.

depends on if what kind of driving you do. I have 3,90s and love em wouldnt switch for anything. I do about 70% city and highway driving with stop lights, and 30% freeway driving. I dont really want 4.10s as my 3.90s seem to rev high enough as is. If you do mostly city i could see 4.10s even with my setup i could see and understand em but i just dont think they fit for me personally. If you do Alot of freeway i would say 3.73s but for a mix i like the 3.90s nice new choice for us in-betweeners.[8D]

mine is not a dd, so my concerns may be different. i have 4:10's and like them, however i think i might prefer something along the line of a 4:30 if i ever change these out. i had 3:73 in my lx hb, and prefer the 4:10's over them.

I agree with you to an extent. Its not always about horsepower. You can have a 12 second car on less than 250rwhp with the right setup. I would go with 4.10's but thats only if you plan on keeping it NA. If you plan on running a SC, Turbo, etc. than go with 3.73's or even 3.90's.

i have 4.10's in an 89 with a 5 speed and love it. full built motor and still manage to get 20 mpg on highway trips. which i was surprised to get that even but 4.10's seem to work for me.
