my car has flow's from the cats back and the cats have been gutted... so they're basically on there for emissions but its like they arent really there... sounds great though, so im gonna say no cats, JMO!! good luck with the choice

confused about cats... my car is overheating alot. i took it to ford and they said that my exhaust was being blocked probably by the cats. I was told i could remove thm, but i am confused as to how many there are, i have dual exhaust and i see two boxes on each tube (not including the muffler, one box is right at the bend going up to the headers and the other is on the strait part right before the muffler. are both of these boxes cats? if so how do i remove them?

i got the same set up on mine....i just took the mid-pipe out...laid it on the saw horse...and cut the cats open and took the stuff out...and got them welded bak up and all...but u might as well just get some off road pipes....they dont cost much...maybe 250 bux ...on ebay u might be able to get them for 100-200 ......

If money were no option, I'd go with Cats. I'd also have a Turbo. Turbos are naturally quiet, and it would be quieter with Cats.
Although if I say so myself, my ride sounds fantastic with my Ultraflos, and the Dr X midpipe.

I have no cats, but long tube headers, and mac exhaust. I love the sound, the neighbors don't...I have to park at the end of the road so I do not wake everyone up -when I leave for the nightshift. But...The emissions can get you buzzing man. Not always, but I guess if your speed etc...are working against you. I have actually become dizzy, and my wife can smell exhaust on me when I come home. I say it is better she smells exhaust VS other ladies perfum right??? My brother in laws 90 LX had the same thing, but was way worse. On a long trip- you would get a headrush!! You make the call bro!
