Well ive already had another name here but for some reason i cant sign in but anyway. My question is the 1983 gt mustang my uncle gave me has 3.55 gears what were the stockl gear ratio in the 1983 mustang,how much of difference in the the 2 ratios in take off power or top end? Sorry im new to this

i think 3.08 and 3.27 were available, the only way to tell the actual is tell me the tag number and vin, i think i have a book for 83 here somewhere and i will look it up.

for my year a manuel was a 2.73 and a AOD was 3.08 but mines 91

I think gear ratio is on the door jam or in the glove box isnt it

i got the book rt here.. bluestang is right for the 5.0 5 spd the only option for the GT in 83 was a 7.5 inch traction lock w/ 3.27 gears. for the 4spd SROD it was a 3.08 gear
