cause it bolts in place of the 5.0 badge on the stock intake. if you were to use a aftermarket you would have to mill the intake flat and drill and tap holes for it to mount to. not only that but it would sit up to high and you would need to cut a larger hole as the flat flange would be sticking out of the hood.
