1995 cobra 302 runs 240hp 285tq
1995 cobra R 351 (same heads, cam and intake as the cobra) runs 300hp 385tq

so no, they are NOT the same HP... your buddy probably installed a lower compression 351w. it is common for them to be 8.5:1 as opposed to the 302's 9:1

So what specific kind of 351 should I be looking for? Also having it rebuilt and all the added items that are needed for the swap would be just about the same as a stroked 302?
