Crate engine question.

Crate engine question.
I wanted to get the gt40 crate engine that produces 345hp... would it be worth it to stroke it and swap the heads? Is the engine strong enough to produce more hp then 450-500? If I went with a trickflow package will it work ok with the new motor?

why waste the money? Most of the cost is the rotating assembly and heads....

Also the 351 is just about the same hp rating as the 302... and I really am not interested in getting a windsor.

RE: Crate engine question.
the 302 is nowhere NEAR the HP rating of the 351.. you are looking at the TRUCK crate motors.
Start with a rebuild 351w roller block, get some afr185cc heads, maybe 205s
Pick up a nice cam, a Performer RPMII intake, and expect 400+ at the crank
for ALOT less work and less money then you could get that HP from a 302
a 351w block is EASILY good for 750hp if not more

RE: Crate engine question.
you want to stay away from a windsor, but your asking about a cleveland.... wow.. why dont you just completely start from scratch.
Yes, Nmerrill the 302or based block. the heads, and cam from a 302 will fit in a 351w
