it depends on the combo but it could as the 351w to make 600hp needs a hell of a lot of cam, that kills low end. it also needs big *** ports in the heads that again kill low end power. the 460 can use a mild cam and mild street heads and make those power levels. that adds up to mucho torque along with the big rods in the 460.

a n/a 351 is a hell of a engine to make 600hp. if you stroke it to 408ci with 13.1:1 compression and run a 284 solid roller cam, afr 225 heads, a victor jr intake, and 1 3/4 headers you only make 540hp at the crank. its not a torque monster as it doesnt make power untill 3500 rpm but it will make peak hp at 7100 rpm.

you could stroke the 460 as much (to keep it easy for comparison) run mild performer rpm heads, a performer rpm intake along with a fairly mild cam and make 625hp ON PUMP GAS!

hell you can get a crate 514 from ford direct with the new cobra jet heads that thats rated at 625hp but has been proven to push over 700 in as delivered form. the only replacment for displacment is a power adder.

the 460 weighs 130#'s more than the 351w. its not the end of the world as it would be harly noticable unless it was in a all out roundy round race car, you wont notice it when you are driving around town.

6.0l powerstroke FTW! That motor makes our 04 f250 haul ***, I can't imagine it in a little fox body. But then again, I can't imagine trying to steer with that turbo diesel motor up front, that's a big biatch!

did someone say it had to be n/a? to make that power? sry i have never been a fan of a 460. imo they sound like ****. they dont have that nice tone like a 302 or 351. now if you wanna talk big block power put a 427 side oiler in a fox. that would be worth the time and money.

flechs 5.0 site has all swap info..a 460 is awsome in a stang..but getready for ****ty traction in a race..unless u get serious suspension upgrades...i personally would go with a 408 stroker beast with a 351w....

dude if you fit a powerstroke diesel into a fox body id hand you my pink slip. hands down.
+1
Me too.....i love the powerstrokes....
I like the 7.3 powerstrokes...I've been told by a few diesel techs that the 6.0's aren't nearly as reliable or powerful as the 7.3s. Supposedly the 6.0s have a lot of head gasket problems.

i personally think that the swap takes a lot of time to get everything lined up perfectly...now i would never do a swap with motor mount... do a motor plate...its much easier...as for the power..
10:1 compression
dove heads ported/polished flowing 330 intake/230 exhaust
torker intakes flowed to match
lunati camshaft
holley 850 carb
that mild setup will give you 560 hp and 608 ft tq at 5800 rpm...
i have played the 302 bottlebaby...powerdyne chargers..then vortech chragers....but there is no comparison to a BBF...my opinion is "go big or go home "
