chance to buy a T bird engine
ok i got a chance to buy a 91 T bird engine for 100 dollars and a 87 mustang carb'd engine for another 100 would it be worth it, and could i swap the T bird engine and throw it in my car like i would a 91 mustang engine? what are the differences if there is any? the T bird engine had 155 000 miles and the carb'd 87 had 80-115 id want to combine them like use the 87 block and crank and use all the external stuff of the T bird engine, idk ? whats your guys opinion?
id plan on making it a 306 with forged pistons

RE: chance to buy a T bird engine
$100 is a good price for a complete engine. I can get any engine in the junkyard by my house for that price, so you could always try junkyards also. A 5.0 short block is basically the same across platforms with a few differences. The most important thing to know is whether or not your 5.0 block is a roller block or a flat tappet block, because the roller block lifter bores are taller because the roller lifters are taller than flat tappet lifters. Also, there are Mexican 5.0 blocks which are stronger than US 5.0 blocks, but it's all interchangeable. Any 5.0 head will bolt on to any 5.0 block, etc. Just know whether or not you have a roller cam.

i saw on a report that the T-bird engine is rated at 205 horse and 275 torque? what is the difference between that and the 225/305 torque of the mustang 5.0 differnet manifold different cam or what? different heads possibly?
