can anyone tell me how big the rear gear is in a stock 95 mustang gt? i'm lookin at 4:10's, and i'm wondering how big of a change i'm gonna have :P thanks.

there should be a tag on the rearend cover ..I'd go with a 3.90 gears.....as 94/95 are heavy *** cars......you probably have a 2.73 or 3.08

Mine came with 3.73 from the factory! Didnt know this untill they were taken out for some 4.10s. If I had it all to do over again I would stick with the 3.73.

You sure about that 94bluegt? I doubt Ford would do that, even on a special order. I have heard with them installing 3.55's from the Factory on special order cars, but not 3.73's. The tag on your rear-end will tell you what they actually installed from the factory, was the tag code for 3.73's as well?

They only came with 2.73s or 3.08s. Cobra had 3.27s I believe and you could get as high as 3.55s I THINK.

I know back on fox car you could get up to a 4.10 it can be done as a dealer options..it can still be done on new cars..and can be used as a bargining chip to buy the car this is what I did on my supercrew had a 3.27 rear told them 3.55 or I'm walking..thier in there no charge just wish I said 3.90

Bought the car new in 94. So yes Im sure. 3.73s are what came out of it. I was suprised as well. I dont remember what the code was but that was well over 3 years ago I had the 4.10s put in. The shop that changed them told me what they were. I believe there was a 3.73 stamped into the pinion gear. If Im not mistaken.

Well I can tell the original poster that 99.9999999% of all GT mustangs came with 2.73's or 3.08's (mostly auto's with the 3.08's)

Im just stating what gears that came in mine. Not saying his does. So I believe it could be anything from the 2.73 to 3.73 depends on what they decided to put in. Not all cars follow the norm when being built. My car was built in sept of 94 and I have found out that some parts on the 94-95 are different.
