I have the same problem on my 97 GT. Took it to a very reputable transmission shop and he told me it was the 2nd gear synchro and that it would cost about $700 to fix. Same issue as you, dude. Brought the thing home with 37000 on the clock and found the same issue. Somebody beat the **** out of my car.

sucks doesnt it... im bumed about it... this car has 66000 on it and its doin it... guess ill look into prices of just the syncro and then a whole rebuild... all depends on my budget tho.

Get it rebuilt..... I've had the problem b4 too. I could probly drop a t-5 out of a mustang blindfolded.... Whatever you do dont buy a used one... spend the extra and get it rebuilt or get a new one. Astroperformancewharehouse.com I just got a tranny from them about 6 months ago... works great!
