Default Insurance money

ok my car was hit and i am worried about the damage that was done. but i was thinking if they cut me a check for $1,400 could i get new pistons/rings and have my block bored .030 over to a 306 within that price range?

my engine has high miles on it and i wanna make it last longer.

There not gonna cut you a check for $1400 on an 86 GT with high miles. They'll just total out the car and give the book value. Or they will total it out and sell it back to for a couple hundred bucks. Theoretically though, you could by a complete stroker kit for less than 1K with all new internals. That would be new pistons/rings/rods/crank. Summit has a 306 kit for like $800-900.

Normally they only do that if it has a loan on it.
