The biggest difference is not the motor itself, but the wasy its controlled. 96+ is OBD2 and it takes alot to get everything to work without setting off a check engine light. 5.0's are only obd1, and the only time your CEL comes on is if you F something up hardcore.

I was quite suprised myself, because my check engine light popped on the other day when i was installing my nitrous kit....

my stupid *** forgot to plug the maf back in... DOH![:@]

You know it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks it's all about what you really want, but if you ask me you should go w/ the 5.0 it's more reliable and easier to build and buy parts for. but good luck and let us know what you decide.

I would say go with the 94-95 gt over a 94-95 cobra, you are probably going to be switching heads and your intake anyways if you want to get allot of power so you might as well start with the cheaper of the two, I know there are other differences but those are the biggest, good luck either way

Cheers

The 5.0 is a better and cheaper motor to build. The 4.6 dohc motor is great for s/charging and bolt on HP. You can get a good bit of power from either one.

I have both a 5.0 and a 96 cobra...
the 5.0 pulls harder in its operating range...
but the cobra redlines at 7k and thats some fun stuff for a domestic

I took the cobra up to 130 today with the top down...
That was pretty crazy....

Both are good investments...10 answers 10 different opinions.
Either way there is no wrong choice...regardless its a v8 mustang
