I do know that the car had the shocks replaced before I bought it, but I don't think that would cause anything.

How hard is u-joint replacement? How hard would it be to change in my driveway?
Changing a u-joint is simple, IF youve done it or seen it done before... you need a large vice or press... frankly, it wouldnt cost that much to have someone do it (maybe you can watch for the future) and you would know it's done right...

Eh...well I do work at a GM dealer, cheap labor. I'll check the u-joint before I go off getting anything fixed.

What I find funny is that I plan on getting 3.73's installed this winter...$500 labor for the install and $160 for the gears and $90 for the install kit, total coming to $750. I can buy a brand new ford racing rear end from summit racing ( here ) for $789 with 3.73 gears already installed, doesn't come with the axles, though. Hah...

It's always nice to have cheap labor when you need it...

Tell me about it...$60 for an oil change and trans flush with syncromesh.

Still, I really hope this ujoint is the problem. I would **** a brick if I had to replace the rear end. Coconut would be parked for a while while I saved up money.

Yeah man, gotta name the car something.

Grabbem - this is a clunk you feel more than hear. I had a bad shock bushing in my old car and the symptoms aren't similar at all.

It only clunks when I let the clutch out, no other time.
