Need Help. Wasnt the Battery

RE: Need Help. Wasnt the Battery
There is a small wire that goes to the solenoid. You will need a test light or volt meter to do this. Take the wire of and probe it with the aforementioned and see if it lights or shows battery voltage (depending on which one you use). If it does, the ignition switch is sending the signal out to the solenoid. If it doesn't you have a place to start looking. Next, the same small wire, remove it from the solenoid, take a screwdriver and jump the connection from the small stud on the solenoid to the positive battery cable on the solenoid. Make sure the car is in park or neutral if it's a stick. If it does nothing or just clicks, it's the solenoid or the starter. If it starts/cranks, it's the solenoid as long as you are getting the power to the small wire on the soleniod as earlier mentioned.
Is it stick or auto. Could also be the neutral safety switch for either.

I once thought I had a battery problem too, but it was a heat soaked starter. I guess a 200,000 mile starter doesn't last to long when it bakes next to some long tube headers! I have a gear starter now that's guranteed to never heat soak, but it sounds like you're trying to start the car with the car already running. [&:]
I loved the way the stock starter sounded. It had that woop woop woop sound to it.
