Default looking for more power

89 gt vert

10.5:1 forged internals(302 small bore), systemax h/c/i, 75maf, 70tb, full cooling, full exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, pulleys, no smog, no ac

msd ignition, coil, distrib anyday now depending on deciding on future plans...

to get a system with timing retard for boost or not ?

not sure if i should s/c it with 10.5:1 ... any other ideas for more power ?

dont have funds for nice computer yet so probly not that

Go with the NOS bro! High comp engines are what it works with best. I would go with 150hp shot. A forged motor will love the stuff. EIther that or throw in some dish pistons and have the combustion chambers in your heads reamed out a little and boost it.

Nitrous is definitely the way to go.

You have more compression than would be ideal for boost.
Nitrous would work well though.

As far as computers...
I am using a TwEECer RT.
The tweecer was 550, add in a wideband O2 ($200 from Innovate), and a laptop, and you can tune the car any way you want.
It just takes time to learn it.
I sold my desktop and used that money to buy a laptop.

If you do decide to lower the compression and go with boost, watch the Quench Height. This is the distance between the top of the piston and the bottom of the squish part of the head.
If the Quech height is greater than ~ .050" you can have problems with high load/low rpm detonation.
(This is what ultimately destroyed my 408w).
It is preferred to work the combustion chamber or use a partial dish piston to keep the QH around .035 - .040 inch for street cars.
