Just currious as to what all is involved in swapping the rear qaurter windows from and 86 to the 87-93 window style???.. anybody got any links or any info on how it's done and what needs to be done? thanks guys.

To my knowledge you just replace the window itself. Take out your quarter trim, unbolt the window and use a piece of wire (mechanics tie worked nicely for me, before i got the proper kit) to cut out your window then glue the new one in.

ok, i was just wondering if there was any prep work that needs to be done to the window opening because the window itself is samller on my 86 and there is trim that needs to come off around the window but it all looks like 1 piece around the window.

I've never done it myself, nor seen it done, but I know it can be done, and is quite common, so I don't think there would be a problem. The louvers are probably one piece with the window, I'd assume anyway. And I know the bodies were the same from 79-93 so the new window should pop right in

it is easy, it is a direct replacement, the black part of the 87 windo replaces the louvers. just take out the window and the louver and use the 87 and up moulding and it will bolt right up. no prep needed

yea its just a simple swap from one to the other. My buddy has an 86 with 87+ quarter windows. They are interchangeable.

sweet, thanks guys. just wasnt posative and all... i just like how the 87+ have the word mustang on them and how they are blacked out.
