Clogged Cats?

RE: Clogged Cats?
no im running an off road H-pipe and my o2's are plugged into them. the funny thing is i bought a set of MIL eliminators just to do so (although i should do so cause they dont belong on the car) i put them on and my car stopped being sluggish yet my car still didnt pull the way its suppose to, so i took the MIL's off and my car started choaking again so i think its my o2's so i ordered a new set and when i put those on ill c the results.

RE: Clogged Cats?
the cheaters on the downstreams just make the pcm think the cats are working. they will have no affect on driveability. Bad hegos will make your car run pig rich typically as they fail in a manner that the pcm interprets as lean; making it add fuel to compensate. def not backpressure with an h-pipe.

The reason why they are a bad install is b/c the system does the A/F and timing adjustments + "learns", based on the input from the O2's. The MIL eliminators are only used on OBD-II ('96+ Mustangs) to take care of the O2's set that are installed after the cat-cons (noy used for A/F and timing adjustments).
Basically, you are not allowing the system to adjust fuel and timing, it does a change, but the "eyes" (O2's) do not see any change....they're fixed at a value b/c that's what the MIL eliminators do.
Replace the O2's, clear system codes (explained in the KOEO self-test code thread) and re-check for codes 542 and 543 to show up again. If they do show up, start a thread in the Problem Solver section....we'll help you out....LUK..
im guessing he knows what hes talking about!

RE: Clogged Cats?
you need to rent a hego socket from your local auto zone. It is just a normal 6-point deep well socket that has a slot cut in the side of it (for the hego pigtail to go through). A little penetrant and patience is all that's left.

yeah if they are rusted in place. if ur replacing them i would just cut the wire off and use a regular socket so it will be less likely to slip off and bust ur knuckles and then use the o2 socket to put the new ones on
