well, 2 weeks ago i was just driving down the road and i decide 2 smash 1st thru 2nd and all of a sudden my speedometer went all the way 2 85mph then fell 2 0...? yeah.. wierd! 2 days later i decide 2 check my engine oil and i find some sort of thin tubing line that had a spring poppin out thru the side..! i think its the cable that connects to the speedometer..not sure but aperently looked like it was rubing on my header and burned the line.! what is it called and how do i replace it.?

It's the speedometer cable, have to unbolt it from the tranny, pull out your cluster and pop it off the back of that then put the new one in.

Depends aha, probably take you a good hour and a half if you know exactly what you're doing... I've had my cluster out so many times I can have it out in roughly 10-15 minutes, but if you don't know what you're doing that alone may take you an hour. I'd start early in the day if I were you.

hmmmm, I was going 85 down the freeway when I came up to a car that I was gonna pass, so I push the clutch in and grab the shifhter moving it towards 4th gear but somehow it slipped into 2nd ( [:@] yeah I know.....) and my speedo jumped more then my tach [&:] havent had any problems since then though......

ive took out the cluster several time.., i think i will manage..!

WTF... it should be the other way around :\

i'd check the plastic speedo gear that bolted intot he tranny, its a 7/16" wrench and takes about 30 seconds to checks, if the gear went the teeth will be worn or stripped off. You can replace for ten bucks, if not then yea you'll have to replace the cable.
