I worked at Ford and the iac controls the air foe the engine to idle. It gets carboned up very often and cleaning it sometimes works but you can buy a spacer from ford that goes between the iac and throttle body. This spacer has 2 allen screws that you adjust to manually allow air into the engine because of those crappy iac's. I dont have the part number off hand but call ford and they will know it.
