Default Heater core headaches

I am sure everyone who owns a Stang has either the worry or the headache that one day you will turn on your defroster and instead of your windshield getting clear it just fogs up and you have that smell of antifreeze. Well, my worry is now the headache. Anyone know a mechanic in MD somewhere near the Lisbon/woodbine/Mt Airy/Westminster areas who is reasonable and good? I am trying not to give myself the desire to burn the car to the ground trying to get to that d*mn heater core. LOL. Any help is appreciated. C ya fellas.

take it out and replace it. take out the glove box door and then there is a small cover for it, take that off and take it out. then drill a small hole at the bottom og the airbox and drain the antifreze out. it will work fine, i did it once.

That wont work. The gauge cluster, the dash, the center console, the shifter, need to be pulled out or atlest back. Also the steering column needs to be unbolted and droped into the drivers seat. I've found it easier to actually break or cut the heater core box than to get the front 2 screws out. I've done 2 of them and they are a pain in the butt. Not too difficult to do just time consuming, I'd recomend doing it yourself so you don't get raped for labor costs.

yeah i agree on doing it yourself.. it took me and my dad like 6 hours though. you gotta take out the center cousole, drop the steering column, and pull the dash back, you dont need to completely remove it but just undo it enought to get to it. it is a pain in the butt, but its better to do it yourself than to pay some shop like 500 bones.

it is a total pain to do. and yea the whole dash and everything has to come out. i had to cut open the box that the heater core is in to get it out. it looks so bad lol. it took forever. not too hard just very very time consuming.
