Default Gears! Gears! Gears!

The time has come. I'm putting in a different set of gears. I had everything set on my wish list...on Summit:

Clutch Pack Rebuild
Deluxe Ratech Rear End rebuild kit
Ford Ring and Pinion 3.55 ratio
Ford Lowering spring kit ~1"

Then a guy I work with...huge Mustang enthusiast...said he had a set of gears, 3.73s...for 100.00 plus he'd help me install them. I work at a Ford garage so I'll have all the tools. All I have to do is talk to my parts guys and get a speedo gear. I think 3.73s will be a good choice down the road since I know what I want to do with the car.

You have an 86 T-5, so you have the 7 tooth gear drive, they switched to an 8 tooth gear drive in '90.

You will need a Yellow 21.

Go to steeda and search for speedo gear and a chart will come up. The gear takes 5 min. to put in.

You will like the 3.73's much better than the 3.55's, they really help wake up the acceleration and make stop light to stop light driving much more fun!

Every where else I've gone, says I need the red 21? I guess the color doesn't matter but we got the teeth number right, Dan.
