The reason i got the AFR heads was b/c i wanted a really good head i could just bolt on, i didnt want to have to take it somewhere to get CNC milled when i could get the AFRs that have been proven many times that they flow exceptionally and are already milled; if that makes sense

It definetly does make sense... noone is saying that AFR heads arent good because they have proven themselves time and time again. In my opinion though I think they are a little over hyped up and people make them out to be soooo much better than other heads on the market. They are a little overpriced also if you ask me especially considering the spring situation with them.

When do you think the 185's make more sense than the 165's, in terms of engine HP or set up?

I've heard from many people on this site to go with 185 becuz of my SC. Other's have said 165's are fine.

I'm confused too.

usually they say go with 185s for strokers or boost applications, and 165s for 302s. The thing is with a supercharger on a 302 185s could possibly give you more HP with a supercharger b/c of the better flowing intake. 165s will work fine with boost, but it may not give you optimal HP numbers.

^^+1 Thats a perfect way to describe it. The 165's will add tons of power BUT just not as much as a set of 185's will. The only reason I could see someone NOT going with 185's with a combo like yours would be because with them you have to notch your pistons. I think thats why twisted wedges have been becoming so popular... plus the whole TF kit thing.

I think I am going to do a set of twisted wedges and have them ported. They will flow the same as a set of AFR 185's with no modifications with the pistons.

So 185's are probably the way to go since I'd have to get my pistons fly cut anyway becuz of my cars year.

What are RR size/brand and cam duration/lift type?
