What parts from an EFI 302 will fit in a 351W?

The engines are pretty much identical other than the crank, lower intake, and some brackets. A 351w is basically a 302 with a taller deck height and longer stroke crank.

its the same bore as a 302 so the pistons will work, but would have to use a longer rod, cam wont work, crank wont, oil pump wont, oil pan wont if your putting it in a fox body, lower intake wont (302 is too narrow), heads wont work (factory, wouldnt want to do that anyway)...most brackets will work, motor mounts will...a lot depends on what you have and what you are doing with it

Heads do work, their interchangable, same thing with the cams but the H.O. 302's use a different firing order and have roller cams, alot of accessory brackets don't work (the ones that bolt to both the head and block), the oil pan will work in a mustang if the 351w came from an early 80's Crown Vic. Motor mounts are of course the same and so is the bellhousing pattern.

to usee the heads you would need to have them drilled out to fit the 1/2" bolts.

parts that will work, heads.will bolt on no mods needed.if they are newer 351 heads.but the newer heads are the same as 302 no help.if they are old heads the water jackets are diff.but could still be used and they have little bit bigger valve but no much at all Iam talking early 70s heads non in the late 70s or newer they are the same as 302. (just have 1/2 head bolt holes 302 have 7/16 head bolt holes no biggie)I would just get a good A/M head .oil pump, cam (may need to change fire order),timing gear cover, motor mounts, timing chain, trans bell will work, valve covers, some front brackets will swap but not much due to the 351 1in taller deck other then this the motor are not the same.not much at all if you think about it.

Thanks everyone for the info. Would you say it is worth the swap? There is a little less than $4k in the engine on my car now. NOS/MAN, thanks anyway, but my friend is selling me one of his for $50. I do have a friend that is looking for one for his 86 4cylinder lx. How much do you want for yours? & where are you located?

So it is possible to make a cam for a H.O. 302 work in a roller 351W right? I have an aftermarket cam is the reason im asking. & My oil pump shaft twisted in half so the internals are f***ed. I was wondering if my parts I have for my 302 will work. K&N intake filter, Mac unequal headers, Mac 2.5 exhaust, Ported & Polished heads, GT40P intake manifold, 1" Phenolic spacer, & xcam. I know the headers won't work aswell as the heads. Any idea of a lower intake that will work with the Explorer(GT40P) upper intake manifold? Not sure what i'm gonna do about the hood.
