is my radiator cap broken?

i was in the middle of pulling out my ps pump and a/c compressor today. i was under the car unhooking some ps lines when i grabbed the lower radiator hose. when i did, coolant shot out of the over flow hole (just below the radiator cap) and got all over me. i didnt have the over flow tank in at the time. it was my thinking that the cap should keep that port closed at all times unless too much pressure was created in the cooling system. the car had been off for hours before this happened and the coolant coming out was cold so i thought that the cap should block that hole/port. if it is broken, where can i get a new one? other then the ford dealership i mean

While you already need a new one you should get one of those billet ones that say 5.0 on them or something.. or are they just covers????

Anyway, autozone, etc. should have them. OR if there are any junkyards around you can prob scoop one up there.

now that I re read that I dont think its broken, when you squeezed the lower hose it forced the air back into the radiator making it come out the overflow whole
