1989 Mustang GT 5 spd. I took the instrument cluster out to check on a noise coming from behind the instrument cluster. Now I can't get the speedo cable back into the speedo. Does anybody have any tricks. I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Nothin much to it. It just plugs back in. Oh and the noise is prolly a dry cable.

Well, i tried pushing it back in as hard as i could, but there is not very much room. Is there a special way to slide your hand up in there.

Nope, never really had that problem. Is the cable pushed all the way back in the housing. How did you get it loose?

It was already loose, thus the noise i heard, so it came off easy. The cable is set way back in the dash, and i can't really get a good grip on the cable. Plus, I have big hands and i can't seem to get my hand between the cluster and the dash.

Where should i be sticking my hand in the dash to get a better grip. It seems the cluster has to be bolted in place, just to get the cable to reach.

Try pulling out ward on the cable, there is usually some slack to allow that to happen.

I tried that too, it came out just a little, but still not enough. But thanks for the help anyway. I'll try again tomorrow when i am not mad.
