i think that guy is full of crap unless he was s/c or turboed...look at my dynoes i went from9 deg.=277hp to 18 deg.=310hp.my isn't stock, but in the same note it ain't like some of the other guy's radical set up.get it tuned first get a baseline then make your adjustments.make sure they have o2 widebands to get a proper tune.

Mine runs best at 15, and that's a stock motor running 93 octane. I know because I had it on the dyno, and 15 is where MY motor made it's best power.
Your's could be higher, the same, or lower. The best way to "know" is to put it on the dyno. At $50 for 3 pulls, it's money well spent to know for sure where you motor runs best.

As far as the other guy running at 8, perhaps that's true. That's where HIS motor makes it's best power apparently. But he's wrong to say 6 is the factory setting, because it's 10.
The other possibility is his crank pulley has slipped just a little, making his timing marks off just a little. Not too likely, but possible.

sound to me the guy did not build teh car but the person that did set the crank to 4 dregees in advance makeing his 10 really a 14 so dont worry if your car makes more power at 13 leave it there. if you cant fell the diff. then keep it as low as poss. only need to advance the timing to make power if you dont get nuthin out of it dont do it.

You can't set the crank 4 degrees advance (we are referring to ignition timing, not cam timing). The balancer has a keyway in it it can only go on 1 way. If the guy is getting his best performance at 6* then either his balancer has slipped (their 2 piece, the outside can slip around the inside throwing the timing marks off) - which is not likely because they slip the other way. So most likely the guy who told you he runs at 6* has been setting his timing with the spout connector still plugged in - which is a nono.

5.0's have chains not belts. And it would not affect ignition timing, but it would throw of cam timing and hurt performance and the car would run like poo.
