Default backspace question.

I really don't know how to phrase this question. but. What backspace would I need if I'm getting some draglites with 275's on rear. My cobra's right now have 275's but they have a spacer, and I have no idea what the back spacing is...I really don't even know what back spacing is anyway....

would I want 5.5 or 4.5 inches I guess is the point of the question.

You need 5.5" backspace. With 275/50-15s you will need to massage the inside of the wheel well with a hammer and maybe roll the quater panel lip. Watch out for your tailpipes also.

I guess I'm an idiot, but I am still a little confused.

Why would I need to hammer my fenders with 275/50's on 15's when I have 275/45s on 17's?

Judging by the picture, shouldn't the 4.5 and 5.5 work theoretically?

the only way I could fit my 275-60-15 drag radials in there was by rolling my fender lip in.

the 275-50-15 should fit with only a little hammering

on my 15X8 draglite I have a 5.5 backspace, it clears my rear disk brakes too.

okay, so 15x8's or 9's with 275/50's should fit no problem with 5.5 backspacing.

15x10 with 50's would need hammering then?
