Got new short block coming in another day or two.

Want to double check the piston to deck height clearance and see if they 0 decked it like I asked.

anyone know how to do this? walk me thru it?

Bring piston #1 to TDC. Use a dail indicator for this. When you get TDC, use a depth micrometer to find out what the deck is....

How easy this is to do, depends on what kind of gauge you have.

I use a dial depth gauge mounted on a magnetic base for this.

Set up the dial gauge on the magnetic base so that your "0.00" is reading from the block surface. Then release the magnet, move the setup over #1 (which should be at TDC). If your reading is "0.00" then your good.

It's also possible to just bring piston to TDC and use a straigt edge and feeler gauges, just be sure the edge is good......
