exhaust leak???

Default exhaust leak???

hi im thinkin my headers might be leaking cause lately inside the egine compartment its been really loud, how can i tell for sure if i do, is there a way??? im gonna go tighten the header bolts today, if that doesnt seem to work what should i do, thanks a lot!!!

i had the same problem with my 92 gt, what i did was first i tightened the header bolts, that didnt work so then i replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets, that didnt work, so finally i got rid of the h pipe all together and got a catless xpipe and guess what !!that didnt work either so i have no idea maybe that hiss is just a natural mustang sound

ok kool, well im gonna try to tighten those bolts, if that doesnt work a friend some me some nice gaskets from summit, anyway ill c if that works, thanks man

With the hood open, motor running at idle, and a friend handly, have him take a couple of rags and block both exhaust pipes briefly with the rags while you listen under the hood for sounds of an exhaust leak. If you got one, this will make it very apparent where it is.
I would do this first before I tighten up any bolts on the headers unless you know they are loose.

i think he means put the rags in the back of the exhaust at the rear of the car but i could be wrong. sounds like a good idea

I guess I should have said "tailpipes" at the rear of the car. By briefly covering over the end of the pipes, you create more backpressure which will make a leak that much more easy to find.
