My motor went boom

RE: My motor went boom
I know a new motor isn't expensive. I'm definitly going stroker though. I have most of the parts already, really all I need is a machined block. I'll have the car together eventually, I'm not too worked up about it I just want to have the car ready to run at the track for spring. I still have a daily driver so I don't mind if the car sits a while.

that sucks dude, but 250k is a more than decent lifespan for that engine i'd say. i had an old 88 ford e 250 van thing was a 6 cylinder. it had 199k miles on it i was surprised it lasted that long. bought it from the company i worked for for $400 just as a vehicle to tow my dirtbike around in, and do sidejobs with before i bought my f-350. combined it didn't even see a year on the road with me as it blew a head gasket, and i broke my ankle, and just wasn't able to fix it for a few months. timing belt, water pump was the last straw, and the engine was already misfiring, and pistons were clattering. it blew a lot of smoke, and had a problem leaking oil towards the end too. antifreeze leaking too. just towed it to the junkyard after that. kinda off topic, but the your got a good life out of it. good luck investing in a new engine. whether it be remanufactured or out of another mustang.

Wow man that really sucks. Whats up with everyone blowing their motors?!? LOL
Atleast you definetly got your mileage out of it though... I would be more than happy if my motor went at 250K lol
Goodlock with your new buildup.... no 351W?

RE: My motor went boom
I'm starting to think that my motor didn't blow. I got under the car just now to try and find where all the oil came from. Well come to find out the oil is red and really trans fluid. My tranny didn't leak one bit before. I replaced all the seals and gaskets before I installed it. Well the tranny is soaked and my pan look like its bulging. It also looks like there is fluid still comeing out where the belhousing and flexplate cover are. What could happen that my transmission suddenly explode. The tranny only has about 55k miles and the torque converter only has less than 3k. Is my car this doomed. Didn't notice any damage. I tore the motor down, heads are off, lifter, cam, timing cover are all off. When I'm off thursday I going to try and borrow a hoist and pull the motor and trans. I think it might just be time I part out the car.
