Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
Only have $2000 bucks to spend on a supercharger. I want a passenger side mount one. I know I will only get a small one with about 6 lbs of boost. I need some suggestions because unfortunatly you get what you pay for. Need some advice. I can't wait to get back home and fire up the stang. It has been too long!!!!!!!

RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
I'm pretty sure you can get a paxton 1000 kit or vortec kit for under 2k. I'm not sure which one is better to get though.
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
get another $600 and buy a vortec
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
Try ebay.
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
6 lbs is a waste you should save a few hundred more and get a vortech with 8-12lbs boost....jmo do as you wish
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
or go with a used one. You can find a used Paxton, ATI, or Vortech for that price. Out of curiousity, why passenger side only?
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
i would take tat 2000 and get a nitrous kit and a good suspension setup.... cheaper and more torque... which is always more fun lol... jmo... i would save if u dont wan nitrous... a s/c cost more than 2k... 6lb isnt worth it.... unless u find a great used s/c deal
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
Either go used, or if you want new, id go Novi 1000. Iv heard only good things about it.

I saw a used vortech going for 800 something on ebay, looked like it wasnt even used.

Novi 1000 + 8" crank pulley = ~10psi
$2000 all brand new |
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
ORIGINAL: samseed101 Many online places sell a complete bolt-on P-1SC kit for just over $2,500 and that includes everything you need (battery relocation kit, FMU, etc.) |
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
seems like it would less hassle, spent good money on intake
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
I totally agree with full auto... go with a Novi 1000 w/ a crank pulley and a power pipe and lay out serious numbers for around $2200 dollars..... BRAND NEW.

With a majority of the sites, they require you to email or call for prices. The kit I purchased was the 1FA012-SC for the 1995 Mustang GT. The 94 / 95 models tend to be a pain in the ass, and some bolt ons like this cost a little more than they would for a 93 or older 5.0. But either way, you can still get that kit for that price. |
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
Powerdyne is only like 1700 bucks for the kit, 6 lbs., a guy around here is very happy with his.
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
I hear so many bad things about powderdyne though.... many many many bad things. Some people get lucky and have no regrets but than you have that whole sh*tload of people who hate them and basically was a waste of $1700 dollars. You can get an SC or a Novi 1000 for the same price... why take a chance?

Get a Vortech SC-Trim and upgrade the pulley. Right under 2000 bucks, and you will be over 6-9 lbs at least.
Get it here its where I got mine. http://jdsperformance.com/index.asp?...tem&inmake=all |
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
I have the Powerdyne......it gave me 90 horsepower on 6 psi of boost. Powerdyne's are very quiet and they come with a 3 year warrnanty. I like the thing. However if I could go back again I would get the Novi 1000. But I like my Powerdyne.

RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
Some people get lucky and some people dont... but the thing I dont understand is why people even buy them if they heard about the horror stories. You can buy a similar blower setup for maybe a hundred bucks more... if your buying a blower a hundred extra dollars is not going to kill you so why take the chance? I am not saying that their not goog units because there are many people who run them with no problems but on the other hand I have prob heard more bad things than good about them....
So my question is... why take the chance? |
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
How would the vortech SC trim and the Novi 1000 compare. They seem to be about the same price.
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
They are pretty much the same blower. Both are great and very realiable from what I have heard. I have really never heard horror stories about either of them. They are both 5-6 psi entry level superchargers that run about the same. I believe the Novi is like 100 cheaper or something like that. Theres one thing though, Im not exactally sure what it is but I know that with a SC trim you cannot change the crank pulley without voiding the warranty and with a Novi you can.... so Im going Novi 1000. You can pull 14 psi out of either one of them with a powerpipe, blower pulley and crank pulley.
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
14psi is not to shabby for a entry level blower. pretty impressive in my opinion. the paxton does seem to be the way to go.
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
No not too shabby at all! For anything on the street its more than enough... especially on a 5.0.
The Paxton and Vortech are basically the same kit but for some reason if you put a crank pulley on a Vortech it voids the warranty... something about it being 6 ribbed and aftermarket crank pulleys being 8 ribbed.... I think [&:] |
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
Similair blowers. I would go with Vortech because of the warranty, bigger after market IE: after cooler, Pulleys, pipes, valves ect.
The SC trim is the same as the S trim just in a 6 rib design. Would could even send it back to vortech and have them rebuild it into A S trim for 300 bucks and would still be under warranty. |
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
Is the Vortech warranty better than the Paxton warranty? When you sent the blower into to be rebuilt does it establish a new warranty? Where is a good place to look at the aftermarket for the vortech blower? Can you pick whatever blower pulley you want when you send it in to be changed to the S trim?
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
paxton novi 1000
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
Black Snake, what all did you do to get 11psi out of your supercharger? Just crank pulley and power pipe?
|
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
No 3.00 upper pulley and 8 inch crank along with powerpipe and bypas tube.
I think its making a lil more past 11lbs but I get a lil scared. |
RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
I got my Vortech s-trim off ebay for 1600 bucks. Comes with three pullies for 6,9 and 11 lbs of boost. It came with every nut, bolt, belt and bracket as well as the FMU. He also included the bypass and smog delete.

RE: Have only $2000 to spend on supercharger
You gotta make sure you have sufficient funds though for supporting mods, i spent 2100 on a used kit, but now i'm over 4000 deep because of supporting mods, TB, MAF Sensor, Injectors, Tune, etc. and and now my car needs a new clutch because it can't holdthe power and a new trans (but it already needed a trans. Supporting mods will kill ya, i'm tellin a from personal experience haha.
