Default x or h pipe

Im looking to replace my exhaust and suggestions on headers? Id like to stick with bbk 1-5/8 in. Shorty Headers. My main question is, is there a big difference in tone between the x and h pipes... im going to be using the american thunder mufflers.

ppl say x pipe is "raspy" and H pipe is "deep" so in my mind i interpet that as like a sporter sound very a muscle car sound... performance isnt any major different... u cna get to mustangexhuast.com i htink as listen to sum setps.... u should get more responses as well... oh and if your goin with the thunders i woudl get an H pipe... i heard a clip... it whas with lts tho... sounded prettygood

it all depends on what sound you like. CrazyCobra is right about the sounds, so it all depends on what sound you are going for. Do you want a loud raspy sound or a deep muscle sound? Personally i think an h-pipe sounds better on the 5.0. ( thats just my opinion however)

I am running an H pipe on my 86 and besides those stupid cats would sound great. I am running an X pipe on my 74 camaro and even though it sounds really good, the police has taking a liking to it.

To me, on a 5.0 nothing sounds better than headers+prochamber+flows. X pipes sound really good on a mod motor. They sound alright on a 5.0 motor, but the H or prochamber sound so much better.
Here is a clip of my car. 1 5/8" equal lengths, offroad H, and 2 chamber flows. Just subtract the cam racket and you have the overall sound. http://4fit.mustangsofburlington.com.../MyExhaust.wmv

I had MAC Lt's, MAC ProChamber + American Thunders.... I really liked the way it sounded but to be totally honest, I think a BBK midpipe w/ SLP's sounds either the same (not the same tone but equal in my liking) or better.

It all boils down to personal taste. I'm not a fan of the SLPs, but there are tons of folks that love them. Then you have those anarchists that don't like Flows on 5.0s!!![:@]
