i didnt no anything about my shifter when i replaced it with my b&m. Just go at it. Take the center concil out and its right there. take off the boot and 4 bolts, make sure to use that special grease(someone help on this) on the balljoint at the bottom of the shifter. Pop in place and put back together. took me 45 mins max.
