SCT chip

RE: SCT chip
i got one with a custom dyno tune. dropped my 1/4mile over half a second(7/10ths to be exact). but thats because my car was running like garbage after the heads and cam. with just bolt-ons you probably won't see the same results.

I plan on buying one after i install my heads (AFR185cc), intake (trick flow track heat), and rebuild kit. So all i have to do is tell the salesperson my mods and they will take care of the rest?. thats a big gain you got there, its well worth the price ($269). What kind of mods do you have and what was your time before and after you installed the chip?

It would be best to get the tune done at a dyno shop, rather than telling the sales person what your combo is.
A dyno tune is tailored to your actual car. A mail order tune is based on a previous tune they have on file, which may or may not be close to yours.
The SCT chips have a pretty good reputation from what I have seen on the net. I have not used them, I am a tweecer guy.
I'm not sure if you can buy the software to tune the SCT yourself?

He was driving an SN-95 car, assuming yours is a fox, it's not a fair comparaison. SN-95's computers are crap, they don't take mods worth a damn, they have to be tuned, where-as ours don't. So of course he's gonna get big gains. Chips don't really give you that much of a gain anyway, I wouldn't spend almost $300 on one, I'd put that $300 into something else and get better gains.

but i do think if you got the money to spend, a nice dyno tune will be well worth it and will keep your newly modded motor safe. its worth it either way
