the quarter panels are welded on. they will have to be cut off and new panels welded in place...not an easy job for a beginner

Ok, several more votes for skipping on this one. I've done a kbb report (for an '86 however) and it appears this car really isn't worth much even in FAIR condition. So if the guy doesn't sell it for a few weeks and I offer say $750 and he bites - do you really feel it isn't worth it then [&:] Keep in mind this car is EVERYTHING I've been looking for (but in a high priced MINT '85), so part of me is REALLY wanting to tuck it away and gradually restore it as time permits.

Sorry to keep rehashing this - I'm obviously leaning towards buying it and just trying to get a few more positives to help with the post purchase remorse [8D]

ive got an 1985 mustang gt, t-tops, 5 speed, white with black hood decal...pretty good shape, from what it sounds better than the one you found...i got mine for 1400, but put 3000 into it, but now im selling it...if you do get the car, you need to make sure the t-tops and door windows and doors are okay, because they are some of the hardest things to find, because they were only made in 1985 and 1986.

Rust is not something you want to play around with.... for real. I would stay away. I just seen a Notch roller in my area for $400 bucks I might be bringing home my third! lol

For real though, there are definetly alot better deals out there. Just dont rush it.

I got my 86 for 1500. It had no rust, interior had flaws but was clean, engine and trans were good but had some miles. I got a hard 10000 out of the engine and trans before they gave up. I raced the car with slicks and nothing really blew that wasn't an easy fix. Really I think that seems way too high, and there is mostlikely rust you can't see. I'd stay away from a car with rust, there are plenty out there that have very little for a decent price.
