If i am planning to only go 11.5 ET in da 1/4 Is it NHRA LEGAL??? Please help, I would hink about bolt in!! But i dont wantto sacrifice safety by the way.

They are legal if installed correctly. If I remember right you need to use a 6' x 6' by 1/4' steel plate on the bottom side of the car where the bar bolts in. You also need 5/8's grade 8 bolts. The info is in the NHRA rule book, I would double check me because I am just going off what I can remember, so my numbers might be off. You can always get a bolt in cage welded in later on if you want.

You don't need anything for a 11.5 unless you're a 'vert. I wouldn't do a bolt-in. I think they are for looks. If someone has one and tells me they did it for safety, I tend to think they don't understand the concept.

11.49 and quicker needs a 5 point (no passenger side door bar required - but good luck finding a kit that doesn't have one). I took it as if he'd be running down to the limit.

If you run a 13.99 or quicker you need a 4 point roll bar in a vert.

If you run a 11.49 your need a cage....

actually they are quite strong, if installed correctly. A welded in cage must be have a 6x6x1/4' plate welded to the floor where cage connects, the bolt in's must have the same plate top and bottom. If you wreck hard enough to pull a 6x6 palte through the floor, you would most likley pull the welded plate as well. There is so much speculation at this site at times, and very few people who actually do this stuff. I build chassis for a living so I speak from experiance, not what I heard or think I know.
